Our cousin Sarah Ball Haynie.
She and her mother, Elizabeth Haynie were related to George Washington's through his mother, Mary Ball Washington. He included Sarah Ball Haynie, in his Will, to receive $300, which was quite a large sum in 1799, stating she is a "distant relative". This young woman is a cousin through our HaynieBall forebears. Here is a transcribed letter of personal advice written by the retired President to Miss Haynie in 1798:
